As Famitsu shows us, Japanese gamers were anxious to get their hands on Capcom's latest run-and-gun shooter entry in the survival-horror genre, Resident Evil 5, lining up before stores opened early in the morning. In fact, some of them even purchased the Xbox 360 bundle, as evidenced here.

If you've found yourself looking for new mediums of entertainment since the heartbreaking season finale of The Bachelor, a new program on SciFi Channel might tickle your reality programming fancy. WCG Ultimate Gamer, the first episode of which airs Tuesday, March 10, will follow 12 gaming enthusiasts as they "embark on an intense and emotional journey" for a prize of $100,000, some Samsung products and the right to represent the titular World Cyber Games league at gaming events across the globe. We anticipate they'll learn a bit about themselves along the way. That's the best prize of all, really.

Lots of downloadable content available this week, for games from Prince of Persia to Burnout Paradise and everything in between. Watchmen: The End Is Nigh is the game of the week and demos of Wanted and Age of Booty are also available. PSP owners can grab a digital copy of Killzone Liberation for the bargain price of $16.

We've got some good news and some bad news. We'll start with the negative stuff first. In celebration of last week's Makin Map DLC release, Call of Duty: World at War soldiers will receive double XP all weekend long. From Friday through the early morning hours of Monday, March 12, double XP will be enabled on all gaming platforms including PS3 and Xbox 360. Twice the experience points is an added incentive to get online over the weekend, though we doubt hardcore World at War gamers really need convincing. It's still a nice gesture, though, Treyarch.
